Langton Optometrists
Our latest project was working with Langton Optometrists to do a complete brand identity redesign. This included branding, web design and print design. The idea was to transform the Langton Optometrists identity into something more modern, cohesive, and visually appealing.
The main priority initially was to redesign the website but this developed into a larger redesign of the entire branding.
Website
Intro
The main part of this project was the web design aspect, we connected with Langton’s in order to make their website more modern, responsive and user friendly. Their previous solution was quite outdated and didn’t work at all on mobile devices. Since users primarily use mobile devices to view websites it is very important that the website works equally as well on all devices.
Needs of the Client
Responsive
Content Management System for News
Simplistic and Modern
User Friendly (Easy for Elderly People to Use)
Ability for News to automatically share to social media platforms (twitter, instagram, facebook)
Call to Actions to Book Appointments
Client Reviews
Ability to Add and Edit Content
Platform
We decided to go with Webflow for this project, it offers a great visual interface both for development and design as well as a great editor interface for the client to use.
Solution
Since the client wanted to keep the overall content and design fairly simple I went in with quite a minimalistic approach the design. The process was very linear starting with the homepage and slowly working towards fleshing out multiple pages. I used content from the old website initially to block out the spaces, this was then updated by the client to make it much more concise and clear.
Some elements used on the website included:
Call to Actions – Across Site
Testimonial Sliders – Across Site
Interactive Service Slider – on Homepage
Latest News Preview – On Homepage
Individual Pages for Each Service Offered
CMS Powered Product Offering Pages (can be edited in just a few non destructive clicks)
CMS Powered News Page
Google Maps Integration
Social Media Integration
Having an easy way to share news without having to go on the website, twitter, instagram, and facebook separately was very important to the client. Uploading the same thing to multiple locations can be very time consuming and takes a lot of effort.
To combat this issue we used a tool called Zapier to connect the webflow CMS platform to the clients Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
There is a template in the CMS which allows you to input a title, image and description. This data is then sent to Zapier which formats it for each individual platform and then posts it to the retrospective one. This means that the client only has to add the post once to the news page rather than to four separate platforms.
